Tamaneko: Tokyo Tama-shi

Located just behind Sanrio Puroland theme park, this spacious cat cafe is popular with families with small children, especially on weekends. As with most suburban cafes, the resident cats tend to be more outgoing and less jaded here, so don't be surprised if a cat jumps into your lap while you're drinking your coffee. There's ample table seating for visitors, and a proper cafe-style menu with espresso beverages and regular and herbal teas.

The cat-introduction binder lists some exotic breeds like Scottish Fold, American Shorthair and Ragdoll as well as several cute mixed-breed cats - around twenty cats in all. In addition to the permanent residents there are also temporary guests in deluxe double-decker cages, as the cafe runs a boarding service for cats with vacationing owners.

Several different types of cat treats can be purchased at Y200-400 per dish, although these may not be available all the time, especially right before 7pm dinnertime. Children can visit from the age of four, and those between 4 and 12 years old can stay for a maximum of one hour.
